The
Cattleya is one of the most beloved
of all orchids. The large, dramatic
flowers of the Cattleya have been
used for decades as the familiar orchid
corsages, giving it the nickname the
“corsage orchid.” The
Cattleya genus has been highly interbred
with many related genera, creating
a multitude of hybrids all with similar
care requirements. The hybrids create
a wide range of flowers to choose
from, as well as differently sized
plants. If you are looking for a miniature
Cattleya for a small space, go with
a Sophronitis or Sophronitis hybrid.
If you are looking for a larger plant,
go with one of the more larger Cattleya
standards.
