The
ivy is a familiar houseplant. Ivies
have dark veined, uniquely shaped
leaves growing on long trailing woody
stems. Although ivies are attractive
houseplants, they are problematic
because they are extremely susceptible
to pests such as scale insects and
spider mites. Ivies prefer cool temperatures,
and warmer, dry temperatures increase
their susceptibility to pests. Many
different varieties of ivies are available
with differently variegated leaves.
